Questions people usually have
Can Inklok read the values entered during signing?
No. Every value entered during signing is encrypted in the browser before it is sent to Inklok. We store those completed values in encrypted form and do not hold the private key needed to independently decrypt them.
Is everything in Inklok zero-knowledge encrypted?
No. Inklok can access the original agreement PDF, templates, workflow configuration, participant information, signing order, status, permissions, and audit events so we can run the service. The values entered during signing are handled separately and encrypted in the browser before transmission.
Is Inklok only for sensitive agreements?
No. Inklok was built for everyday agreements too. You should not have to decide that a document is sensitive enough to deserve better privacy. Use Inklok for the agreements you would send through any other e-signature platform. Zero-knowledge protection is part of the product, not a special workflow.
What happens if I use a new device?
Just sign in. You can access your agreements from your other devices without changing how you use Inklok. We recommend keeping your Recovery Key somewhere safe. You may need it to restore encryption access during certain account recovery flows, such as if you forget your password.
Do signers need an Inklok account?
No. Someone can receive and sign an Inklok agreement without creating an account.
Can I use Inklok from my own application?
Yes. API access is available on every plan, and every account includes unlimited sandbox agreements for development and testing.
Are electronic signatures legally binding?
Electronic signatures can be legally binding when the applicable legal requirements are met. Inklok provides the agreement and signing workflow. It does not provide legal advice.
